There are sites such as the American Beauceron Club where you can find many details about the breed standards and the history of the beauceron. (You can find some of those sites here.) One of its attributes is its laid back temperament. I cannot brag enough of how calm and easygoing our dog’s temperament is. We have 9 grandchildren ages 18 months to 11 years and they play together happily. Celah is very patient with all of them. Loud noises, sudden movements and other distractions do not startle her. Celah has never snapped at any of the children however loud and rambunctious they act. Another attribute is their loyalty. They love to be with us wherever we are. I will tell you that they like a lot of attention. They want to be included in everything we do. We love that. As you can see in the picture on the left, Celah likes to jump up in our laps as if she is a small dog, and not 75 pounds! Celah allows us to trim her nails with a dremel tool, as you can see in the picture below. She is very relaxed and trusting. We hope to never lose that trust. It has also amazed us that Celah will not leave our yard. When I am working out in the yard, she stays right with me all the time. If I go inside for something and leave her outside briefly, she will not leave the property. We live in an area where people walk and ride their bikes. Celah never runs out into the A beauceron will want to be part of your family. If this is not what you want, then you do not need a beauceron. On the other hand, if you are looking for a great family dog with these attributes, the beauceron is a wonderful choice.

road after them. She just stands and watches as they go by (and believe me, they keep an eye on her, too). We are so glad she is part of our family. Celah has an absolutely wonderful temperament.
